First Dance Recital

Siena had her first-ever dance recital this past weekend at the Little Gym. Joe, Libby, and I were among the throngs of camera-wielding family members as we watched our little ones follow the teacher's lead to their tap and ballet routines. It was entertaining, to say the least! Siena did a great job and remained very focused throughout. Way to go! We'll have to post a video soon, as the photos don't really do the event justice. :)

"Baby Henny!"

The girls were THRILLED to meet their new baby cousin Henry Simon Sustar this past weekend in Chicago. Libby couldn't stop talking about "Baby Henny" for four straight days, and Siena displayed such sweetness to her new cousin. I think they're ready for a new baby of their own in a couple of months! It was such a treat to visit with so many aunts and uncles, as well as Grandma and Grandpa Yak. We can't wait to see everyone next month up in Wisconsin for Henry's baptism.

We couldn't pass up a trip to the Field Museum
to check out the dinosaur exhibit. 
Siena in particular is REALLY into dinos these days.

Libby, on the other hand, carefully browsed the visitor's map and decided that she would rather visit the pandas in the "Mammals of Asia" exhibit.  She was VERY insistent that we ditch the dinos to see the pandas.  Sadly, the pandas were under construction.

Photo Class

I recently finished a semester-long online photo class, which has been GREAT for my photography skills.  I've always loved taking pictures and have a wonderful professional camera (thanks to Joe and his photographer friend's hand-me-downs), but have never really learned to use it in any setting other than automatic.  This course was perfect in that it taught me how to use the camera manually as well as photo composition, reading light, and some photoshop editing.  I highly recommend Wendy Schulz's class to anyone who is interested.
