We've been home for a week now, and I'm behind on blog posts... Here's the third and final installment of our "Colorado Highlights" series. It was a wonderful trip and we can't thank Winnie and Picky enough for the fabulous accommodations! We can't wait to return to the mountains, and I'm sure Siena feels the same way. After a long two days of driving, however, it was SO nice to be home. The girls did well for the most part, thanks to a pacifier for Libby and the DVD player for Siena (oh, and lots of fruit snacks!). :) Our motto for the roadtrip was "survive and advance," and we didn't mind a little spoiling with TV and junk food if it meant a few extra minutes of peace in the car! Siena was so cute upon arriving home, running around the house rediscovering her toys and shouting "home!" every few minutes. Joe and I definitely shared her sentiments. Anyway, here are some more photos:
Hiking the Thompson Creek trail with the kiddos. As you can see, Joe fulfilled his dream of carrying both kids at once. He's already scheming how to carry THREE in a few years. Ha ha -- we'll see about that.

The best part of the hike for Siena was returning to the trailhead and throwing rocks in the creek. She could have stayed here all day doing just that if naptime weren't looming.
Joe and Elizabeth admiring an incredible double rainbow that stretched across the entire horizon. It was the girls' first rainbow sighting. Siena, who's speaking in full sentences now, was a bit unsure about the thunder with the ensuing storm and stated, "No boom boom! Turn off boom boom!" Pretty stinkin' cute.

Pops and his great-granddaughters (and great-granddog Millie). One of the best parts of our trip was getting to spend time with my soon-to-be-98-year-old grandfather, who is still very much alive! Watching Pops and Siena bond and joke around was such a joy -- he really has a way with her. She loved beeping the horn on his scooter and was finally brave enough to take it for a ride by the end of the trip.
